Excellent customer service experience from the first initial quote estimate Courtney was very professional, very knowledgeable, very thorough with her inspection. Her crew did an amazing job with the mold remediation, demolition of drywall and cleaning of the mold on concrete walls. Very informative throughout the entire process. The results were awesome, you can't even tell mold was there. If anyone have mold I highly recommend you contract with Pure Maintenance. FIVE STARS PLUS!!"

"I highly recommend Pure Maintenance Wisconsin! They made a very stressful situation of discovering black mold in our home, causing severe mycotoxin illness, a seamless and stress free process.Courtney is amazing! She and her team are excellent at communicating, and are very detailed in explaining the process. Courtney is the 1st person to be certified in Wisconsin with this specific type of mold remediation! It’s cutting edge. They removed literally every spore from our space.Unfortunately, as a population, we are not educated about mold and its dangers - that it can cause cancer, for example. Most mold remediation is inadequate & does not actually remove the dangerous spores from your space. Courtney is an expert and can be 100% trusted. My doctor’s office even uses her company. Thank you, Courtney!"

"Courtney was extremely knowledgeable about mycotoxin illness and the steps that needed to be taken to remediate my condo - including dealing with odd schedules and an inflexible HOA. For tasks outside of Pure Maintenance's specialty, she recommended other skilled local professionals who also did their jobs quickly and well. I highly recommend this company."

"I was very impressed with Pure Maintenance Mold Removal. I have the HLA genotype that doesn’t form antibodies to the mycotoxin that mold spores produce, and therefore I get pretty sick from a mold exposure with CIRS symptoms. Our basement was flooded in August and after initial remediation from an emergency company, I was still experiencing symptoms. I had heard about Pure Maintenance from a health podcast and felt fairly convinced that they would make my home healthy again. Customer service was excellent and prompt, communication was clear. Courtney (the owner) came to my home and pointed out areas that still needed remediated. She was very detailed as she went through my home, searching for potential mold spores. She and her team came in and completely removed any potentially remaining mold, using negative air pressure to ensure the spores did not infiltrate the rest of my home. After they were confident they removed all of the mold spores, they treated my entire home with their dry fog which completely neutralizes the air. They tested the air after their work and levels were at zero. When I came back into my home after their work, the air was so fresh and clean. I no longer had symptoms from the mycotoxin exposure and feel healthy again. Courtney is extremely detail oriented and is an expert in mold remediation. She is honest, and collaborates with her clients on the best remediation approach. My only regret is that I didn’t hire Pure Maintenance right away after the flood to do the initial remediation. I highly recommend them!"

"I cannot stress enough how wonderful Courtney and her team are. She is data driven-- your quote will be based on mold being tested for rather than eye balling where they think mold could be. Additionally, they do all of this without being condensing in any way, encouraging questioning the process/ how things work.

For results-- my partner and I had recurring sinus infections that have gone away once treatment was completed. We've also both had less headaches."

"Courtney from Pure Maintenance was awesome!

I was completely ignorant about mold and when I found out we had a mold issue I was horrified and had no idea where to even begin. Pure Maintenance was recommended to me and I'm so glad as they made the process of mold remediation so straightforward and easy.
On her first visit, Courtney walked me through the science side of things and was able to accurately find and diagnose the source of our mold problem. I have a child with asthma so I was eager to act as quickly as possible--Courtney was able to squeeze us into her schedule the same week which was great for my peace of mind. She was able to treat our house in one day: we left home in the morning with a mold problem and returned home after work to a mold-free home.
And of course the science backs it up! Courtney shared detailed results of before and after treatment and the facts speak for themselves.
It can be so difficult to find professionals that you trust to do work in your home, especially with an issue as serious and delicate as mold remediation. I would absolutely recommend Courtney and Pure Maintenance without hesitation. They delivered the promised results quickly and without hassle which is the best I could ask for. Thanks again Pure Maintenance!"

"Courtney made sure the job was done right. I've had less knowledgeable so called "mold experts" assess my home and they failed. She found where the mold was hiding and made an extra effort to be sure it was identified and properly remediated. I"m now breathing much better and relying less and less on my medication."

"Courtney and the team were so helpful! After a renovation of our basement we thought all the mold was gone. Courtney came in and investigated until she found spots we hadn't thought about. She kept working with us until we eradicated the mold entirely! The demo'd a few spots that were too saturated with mold, dried out anything that could be salvaged, and applied the vapor. Very effective process that was much less expensive than redoing our basement stairs and more walls! It's been so nice to have our house back!"

Accreditations & Certifications

If you walked downstairs this morning and caught that musty smell again, you already know something is off. Basements are the one room in a Madison house where moisture lives year round, and mold tends to settle in long before anyone thinks to look for it. Book an inspection and we can usually have someone at your door within a day or two with real answers, not guesses.

When You Need Basement Mold Inspection

The smell is usually what tips people off. If it hits you every time you open the basement door, you have mold, humidity, or both. Other things worth paying attention to: white chalky patches on the block or poured walls (that is moisture wicking through the foundation itself), condensation on pipes and floor joists in summer, dark staining low on the walls, and any memory of water seeping in during spring thaw or after a heavy rain. Finished basements are the worst offenders because the mold has drywall, framing, and carpet to hide behind for months before anyone notices. In Madison this is a year round issue rather than a seasonal one. Spring snowmelt soaks the ground around the foundation, summers run humid enough that exposed block sweats, and winter freeze-thaw cycles keep opening up small cracks that let water back in. If your basement has felt damp for as long as you have owned the house, that is worth looking into now rather than after you replace the carpet.

Our Basement Mold Inspection Process

An inspection with us runs about two to three hours on site, and our inspectors are NORMI trained. We start at the foundation walls and work our way around the whole space, paying close attention to the places mold actually likes: floor to wall joints, around the water heater and furnace, behind anything in storage, and inside finished wall cavities wherever we can get access. We take readings with moisture meters and protimeters on the concrete, framing, and drywall, because a surface can look bone dry and still hold enough water inside to feed mold. A hygrometer tells us what the overall humidity is doing. If we find or suspect mold behind a wall, we pull air or surface samples and send them to an independent lab. Your report comes back with photos, moisture readings, the lab results, and a plain English list of next steps.

Basement Mold Inspection Cost in Madison, WI

Pricing depends mostly on the size of the basement and whether it is finished or unfinished. A finished basement takes longer because we have to spend more time working around walls and subfloor with moisture detection equipment. An unfinished basement is quicker to walk but often has more complicated moisture patterns we need to map out. You get a flat quote before we schedule anything, and that number is the number. No trip fees, no surprise add ons once we arrive, and no upselling you on lab work we have not already talked about.

Why Choose Pure Maintenance Wisconsin

We have inspected hundreds of basements across Dane County, and that local experience really does matter. A lot of Madison homes sit on block, poured concrete, or older fieldstone foundations, and the glacial till and silty clay around here holds water against those walls longer than inspectors from drier markets tend to expect. Add in homes near Lake Mendota and Monona dealing with a high water table, and the shift from a sticky August into a heated house in October producing condensation inside cold wall cavities, and you get moisture patterns that are easy to misread if you have not seen them before. We usually get out to you same day or next day, our inspection findings are backed by a satisfaction guarantee, and if we do find mold our VaPURE treatment can handle the whole basement without tearing out your finished walls.

Stop guessing about what is behind that smell. Call Pure Maintenance Wisconsin at (608) 893-6620 and we will get an inspector out to you, usually within 24 hours. You will walk away knowing exactly what is going on down there and what to do about it.
